Born August 8, 1965 in Catawba County, he was the son of Christine Stevens Spake of Conover and the late Junior Andrew Spake. He worked in the construction industry. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Marsha Bumgarner Spake of the home; mother, Christine Stevens Spake of Conover; a son, Bubbie Spake, and wife Lindsey; a daughter, Jana Spake and partner, Dallas Crumpler; grandchildren, Jada Spake and Mollie Mae Crumpler; brothers, Sam Stevens of Taylorsville; sisters, Denise Moose and husband, Johnny of Conover and Evelyn Herndon and husband, Farrell of Claremont; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Doug and Janice Bumgarner of Catawba; sisters-in-law, Tina Yount of Maiden and Deanie Owens and husband, Ronald of Catawba; and a number of nieces and nephews A service of remembrance will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Center United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paula Northrup will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church from 2:45 to 3:45 pm on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Mike Lail, Sam Stevens, Rean Kijesky, Matt Oaks and Johnny Moose. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Crumpler, Mark Howard, Tyler Mauney, Ronald Owens, Chad Edwards, Frankie Edwards, Hunter Harvey, Kevin Burt and Ryan Yount. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until on Wednesday at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jada Spake & Mollie Crumpler Education Fund, 5639 Adolphus Street, Catawba, NC 28609.
